Do red and white wines have different storage temperatures?

PeterWhieldon Q&A'sQuick answers at PeterWhieldon.co.uk

The classic cellar temperature is typically about 55 degrees.  I normally store red and white wines at about 56/57 degrees because it’s a good starting point for serving either.

Many people often serve red wines too warm…  and most whites are served too cold!

Restaurants are particularly guilty of this. White wine should be drank chilled… not freezing and red wine should typically be served at a coo room temperature.
